This past weekend, the Shocktraumanauts desended upon Des Moines to participate in the Iowa Comic Book Club’s annual Comicbook I-Con convention. The one-day show was held at the Polk County Convention Center in downtown Des Moines from 10am till 5pm on Saturday, June 10th.
Shocktraumanauts in attendance were; Jason Caskey, Fredd Gorham, Phil Hester, Brooke Turner, Bruce McCorkindale and Mike Worley.
The convention moved from the State Fairegrounds to downtown Des Moines, which was very spacious and nice. The crowds there were pretty good, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The con set all of us Shocktraumanauts up in one area so we could chat with each other, which was pretty nice.
Midway during the day, as a surprise, the Iowa Comic Book Club awarded Phil with an “Artist Appreciation” award, as a way to say thank you for supporting the convention for all of these years. Phil was indeed surprised, and showed off his plaque to the crowds.
Other comics guests at the convention were:
Bob Mcleod, Jon Bodganove, Andy Brase, Douglas Klauba, Pat Gleason, Mike Norton, Adam Van Wyck, Ron Wagner, Chris Rich-McKelvey, Chad Spilker, Connie Persampieri, Tyler Walpole, Jonathan Eike, Sean Eike, Tom Floyd, Brent Schoonover, Brandon Terrell, Nino, Matt Schuler, Bryon Dudley, Nathan Lueth, Shawn Geabhart, Tom Brazelton, Mike Toft, Justin Arredondo, Carter Allen, Bill Hook, Devin Parker, Dave Bryant, Tony Burke & Ian Simmons.
This year’s media guests were Steve Gonsalves (Sci-Fi Channel’s Ghost Hunters, creator of TAPS Paranormal Magazine) and Larry Elmore (AD&D artist)
